The SAE butt weld flange is made up of two parts: the flange head and the welding sleeve. The flange head has a flat sealing surface that fits with another flange head’s sealing surface, as well as bolt holes for attaching the flange to another hydraulic component. To make a secure and leak-free connection, the welding sleeve is fitted over the tube or hose and welded.
SAE butt weld flanges are commonly composed of carbon steel or stainless steel, which provide strength and endurance in demanding operating environments. The welded connection reduces the number of components required in a hydraulic system by eliminating the requirement for separate clamps or bolts.
